Hi, I'm new to the forum, just thought I'd post a picture of my 180l see what you think?
Any advice, tips welcome as I'm still relatively new to it all.
I've now got a shoal of neons and 2 clowns since this pic, and my cory is hiding somewhere!
And yes I know, my synodontis is pretty big for the tank hence why much to my reluctance, I'll probably be looking for a new home for him soon :-(

I've also got rid of the plants at the back of the tank and have added some java moss to a couple of the branches, and some Anubius and java fern aswell, although I don't want the heavily planted effect

Nice tank, welcome to the forum.  Is it a Juwel Rio?

What is your Cory?  These are best in groups and then you will see them busying themselves all the time rather than hiding.  I love Cory's and have them in almost all of my aquariums.  Check out Java or Kuhli Loaches as they are cool too :)

Hi, yeah it's a white rio 180, I recently upgraded from a 125 and this is pretty shortly after the switch over hence it's still a bit new looking.
I've got a bronze cory, we rescued it from a friends tank so I didn't actually buy it, but I love it and was actually thinking of getting another 2 maybe. He's out a lot more now with the sand, I had gravel before and more ornaments etc and think he was a bit spooked by it all!
I'll check out them loaches you suggest, thanks!

Love the syno! My husband has one in his tank and I want one too.

Cory do best in groups of 6 or more.

Pretty tank! Do you have a current photo?

Added this little fella to my tank this morning, he's settled in well...

Here's a couple of pics of some of my other residents...

Nice fish! You should be keeping any cory in groups of 6 or more of their own kind. They're so great, why wouldn't you want more?

Yeah I know I should really, I do love the cory's. tbh I rescued the bronze cory that's why I only have 1 and did think about getting 3 or 4 today but just went with the 1 as I don't like to crowd the tank too much, especially with bottom feeders. I'll see how they get on for a week or so and may well add to the two as their quick becoming my fave's!

I think you should take a close up of that red tailed shark - it's amazing the size of an adult fish compared to the juveniles most of us see in our LFS

Welcome to the forum, and thanks for posting your pics.  Lovely, what did they label him as?  Any chance you could add at least a couple more (ideally 6), as already mentioned corys like to be in groups.  They are happier going around together

Any luck finding the Kuhil's/Java's?  I actually love my Javas as I see them more than the Kuhlis.

RCA - It was labelled as an Adolphoi cory. I think I'll take your advice and add more of them so my 2 are in company. My lfs don't have any of the kuhil/java loach so may have to look elsewhere as they do look interesting!

I thought it would be but did not want to say and give you a bum steer.  Corydoras adolfoi also known as the Adolfo's Cory is one of my favourite Cory.  Mine does not appear to have the orange on the snout, only behind the black band and when I have looked at pics of this Cory, they do not appear to have the orange in front of the black band, i.e. on the snout, so I am a little confused

Is there a Cory expert out there (I will also ask them) that can confirm is this is an Adolfoi or another variation?

I also have an Aqualog on Cory's so will see if I can see any differences.  It may of course be one of the same but there are so many it can also be a slight variation - interesting.

If you can get two more of this delightful Cory you will see a different behaviour as they scurry around together.  Out of interest were they a lot more expensive than the other Cory's in the store?  Mine tend to be, hence asking.

Re: the Kuhlis/Java Loaches are your LFS planning to get any in?  Some stores will not stock them as they are slippery little things and can get into the filter systems at the stores.  You will need at least three as like the Cory's they are happier in a group.

THOUGHT: do you have a Quarantine tank to put your new fish in before they go into your main tank?  It does not need to be very big but can save you some heart ache should something inadvertently come in with something that could affect your other fish.

Whenever I have any question about the identity of a catfish, I log into Planet Catfish, post a photo and I generally get an expert answer within the day. Good folks there.

Planet catfish is the single best place to go for an expert on ANY catfish, corydoras or other.  They were able to id some cories for me from TERRIBLE photos.  That would be where I would go, if I were you for definitive ID.  They can look at a cory and ID it far better than most folks here.
