I just joined after I came across this site searching for some beta fish information.
I am currently in possession of 2 fish. I just took ownership of my little sisters beta a few minutes ago because she was not caring for it properly.
In the tank I bought it is about 3 gallons. It has:
1 red male beta fish full grown
2 live medium plants
2 rocks, one medium the other medium small
and a layer of Caribbean fine white sand that has some funky sand dune thing going on
I also just put in a large (large) translucent green blue marble, very pretty against the sand
The fish I just took custody of thanks to FPS (Fish Protection Services) today belonged to my sister. It is in pretty bad shape. It has multiple tears on its long fins due to malnutrition and it is in one of those depressing small round 'cups'. I plan on upgrading my main tank to at least 7-8 gallon and installing a mini lagoon natural looking thing that is secretly a divider. That way I can put in other beta and hopefully introduce some other species.
I have had my current main tank for about half a year now. It is a well established tank.
