Wow, thats broad. For starters, they originate in southeast Asia, primarily Thailand.

Minimum tank size 1 gallon
Also filtration in the tank is good. So add a filter if you can.
A heater with a temperature in the tank of 75 - 80F Degrees.
They like bloodworms once a week as a treat only.
Vary their diet to prevent problems.
Also consider fasting betta once a week to allow digestion to flow correctly.

They are a solitary fish, most often. And it is rare for them to get along in a community tank.
