I'm new so first i will intro myself:I'm 11 yrs. old and have 1 betta splenders,Armando he's blue and a betta crowntail,Fred he has beautiful fins(when extended) and he is a little olther then Armando and is pink and blue I'm planing on breeding Armando whith a female splenders.I have 1 problem here they are:

Fred is not moving muck eccept for feeding time( he's a pig!!! ) I change the water frequently how can I get his as happy as Armando, he builds a LOT of big bubble nests and I think he will be a graet dad :good:

hello, i've been a part of this forum for a bit more than 2 months
a few things you should consider before breeding :
1 - do you have enough time for the fry? I feed mine three times a day and do a 50% water change every day which takes about an hour in total.
2 - do you have the resources? fry need live food such as infusoria, baby brine shrimp, microworms and vinegar eels until they can be weaned to pellets/flakes.
3 - do you have somewhere to get rid of the extra fry? if things come out well, you could end up with over 200 bettas.

otherwise, it's quite a rewarding experience

-1 I stay home all day, my parents help while I'm in school :shifty:
-2 I have found a large infusia culture in my tank and I have a can full of bbs
-3 wall mart whants them all
-4 please gime me help whith fred

wall mart whants them all

please dont breed bettas just to give them to walmart. there is enough of them stuck in cups there not bieng properly taken care of.

Profiting from the suffering of another living creature is not right. Please, don't do it!
As for your sick fish, we would need a little bit more info. Does he show any other signs of being sick? What are the water stats? Tank size and temp? Is he in his own tank? Does he have any spots, growth or other marks on his body? Has he changed color?

Betta breeding isn't profitable. Furthermore, you should not, or cannot breed pet shop fish as you are condemning them to life in a cup (imagine life in a wa;k in closet) and many are too old. After buying a 10 gallon breeding tank, a 30 - 55 gallon growout tank, numerous jars for males, live food, and many other expenses including filters, you wouldn't even break even. If you want to make money I would suggest livebearers like guppies or platies.

hello guys i was just kidding i whould NEVER sell my 20-500 betta grandkids to wallmart i will put the female bettas in a community tank in my living room and give the males to my friends (betta lovers).

Your friends would be ready to take up to 100 male bettas and house them properly in 1 gallons making sure they clean their water once or more a week, and keep the tanks warm enough? And you have enough space for possibly 100 female bettas which might not get along with one another or the other fish in the tank?
And at some point you'll need to feed mw's or ve's. Infusoria get too small after about 3-5 days, and then the babies might not be big enough for bbs, and it's good to have a back-up culture in case another one crashes.
And as KJ said you need a pretty large tank to raise the babies when they get older, and loads of jars when the males start fighting. As well as a 10 gallon tank for breeding them.
Also, your males and females should be young (only a couple of months) which is their breeding prime, otherwise they might not be good breeders.
Other than that welcome to the forum, and to help your betta...
What are your water stats?
What size is the tank?
Anything on him, is he bloated or abnormal-looking?
Is he gasping or has labored breathing?
What is the temp of his tank?

fred stats
water temp 80f
tank size about 1/2 foot whide and length
he lives whith a small snaill(good Cleanup)
age unknown (my dads friend whas out of town and left it to us)he's bigger than Armando
I do a 100% percent water change monthly and a 1/3 water change twice weekly
(i do not use a syfon)
there also seems to be some kind of circle-like fungus
he looks a little blooated
his fins are a lotle torn (I'll send u an image)
that is all (i don't check ammonia as i do not know how

he also has a big white belly, refuses to eat and has white stringi poo and he takes FOREVER to finish pooing

white stringy poo is characteristic of a parasite laden fish (i think?). i'd suggest you get some medicine from your lfs to treat for parasitic worms and whatnot and treat him
