Just signed up looking to find out any more useful information i can for my community tank.

I have been raising fish for about 15 years and just recently got back into it.
I have a 75 gallon freshwater community setup. 6 tiger barbs, 1 tiger oscar, 1 silver striped angelfish, 1 black ghost knife fish. I also i have two juvenile stripe kuhli loaches in a breeder tank for now until i can find someone to take them as i am sure my oscar will eat them.

As for the size of my tank as i know alot of people are going to tell me its to small, the fish are all very small right now and i have a 125 gal that they will be upgraded to as they grow.

Any other recommendations for my community tank?

Harrisburg, PA?

I'm in Delco. :hi:

to TFF! I hope you enjoy it here.

How does your angel fare with the tiger barbs? Also do they bother your BGK?

Welcome. Great pics!

That BGK needs to get out of that tank ASAP. Even a small Oscar will make that tail an awesome snack (I know from experience). Had a larger BGK that I thought would be just fine with a tiny Oscar....and ended up beating the Oscar on the head with a net to let the tail of the BGK go. Not going to be compatible, even short term.

Not sure I like the idea of the angel in there either... you are feeding it to wolves.

It is your tank though and you live and learn. Look forward to seeing more of the tank and seeing you as an active member here.

It has been a month and all is well, they stay away from each other, the BGK stays in his cave they all stay away from him and the Oscar only seems to mess with the Angel Fish once in a while

I might end up setting up the other tank sooner if they do, but I have had Oscars and BGK together before with no issues so I'm hopeful I will keep everyone updated, any other suggestions for fish?

Oscar is out of the tank in his own tank now, hes is crazy and is now by himself until i find a tough enough tank mate for him.

The other fish are all doing well together,, i am down to 4 tiger barbs (my pregnant female died

Hi and welcome from a fellow newbie

Glad to hear the Oscar is out of the tank, wouldn't of taken him long to start eating his way through your other fish :)

Great that all your other fish are doing well too :)

what tank is your oscar in now?

no.. your oscar is not crazy. i warned you. that is just an oscar.

Okay so I'm done for now with this tank and of course I want to set up another one now. I keep trying to upload pictures but they say they are too large.
So my community tank is as follows:
1 - Black ghost knife
1 - silver striped Angelfish
1- pleco
1 - Hillstream loach
1 - clown loach
1 - dalmation mollie
1 - gourami
1 - bamboo shrimp
2 - Khuli Loach
4 - Tiger Barbs

I also added some more plants and hiding slots, everyone gets along well and I am feeding them a good variety of foods, ghost shrimp, blood worms, algea wafers, flakes and pellets. Thanks to everyone for all of the advice my fish are all very happy and healthy.

Nice pics :)

Are you aware that the khuli loach & clown loach & tiger barbs should be kept in groups of 6+?
The khuli loaches may be a spaghetti dinner for the BGK once it gets bigger, not sure.

I may add a few more of each, i just don't want to over crowd the tank and they all seem to be doing well now,i had more tiger barb but my Oscar got one so hes been removed from the tank,
