Hi, I've had my largest tank for just over a year now and swapped my hexagon shaped tank for a nicer looking nano about two months ago (Using the same water and gravel and running the old filter in with too, to give it a boost start!)

I'm a bristlenose fan! And today I swapped 4 synodontis catfish (2 large 2 small) for 4 peppermint plecos L071 from a guy from the internet!
A fantastic swap and I couldn't be happier! The BN are about 10cm and the male has a gorgeous set of bristles on him.
I've read they don't normally start to breed until they are around 12cm but I'm unsure and any input is appreciated!

In my 125 fluval tank ive got ... 4x peppermint bristlenose plecs, 1x humbug catfish (also known as the striped raphiel) 2x small synodontis, 1x mountain shrimp (also known as a rock or bamboo shrimp) 1x amano shrimp and 4x kribensis, 2 of which are spawning!

Sounds a lot... but I never see the humbug or the shrimp and two of the kribs have gone into hiding away from the feisty spawning kribs! (Trying to rehome two)

In my smaller nano tank i've goottttt.... lotsx cherry red shrimp, 2x ninja shrimp (I think that's what they're called!) and 6 baby bristlenose... 5 are albinos of which 2 are longfin... the other is a longfin brown. (They are all gorgeous!)

Just post to say hi and to also ask if anybody knows if my albino bristlenoses will get along with my peppermint bristlenose... as I eventually want the young ones to live in the fluval!

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum AbbieJ1711.
I also have a few BN plecs and can say that even though the males are definitely showing their gender at about 8 cm, I see no signs of them even taking up residence in one of the caves I have provided. They do explore them sometimes but have not settled in and tried to entice a female to join them yet. I suppose I will need to follow your breeding exploits and pick up some tips along the way. I am a very experienced livebearer breeder but have not done much with egg layers aside from Betta splendens and Herotilapia multispinosa. Both of those are easy to breed although the bettas demand a lot of care after the breeding. I am now working with some wild type bettas and waiting for my BNs to mature fully.

Welcome
BNs can breed from 3" but about 4" is more normal. Believe me ones they start breeding theres no stopping them. mine lay 100+ eggs every 3 weeks. I have well over 150 fry atm. Just give them a varied diet and clean water and they will do the rest.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
You have quite the collection. I also love alage eaters for some reason. I have flagtail prochilodils, common pleco, golden nugget pleco, mango pleco, and royal plecos in four tanks. Also a snail in my main tank.
