Hi everyone! Nice to meet you all
I'm Katie, 25, from Liverpool.
I am somewhat of a goldfish keeper novice! I originally bought some cold water goldfish near on 12 months ago as a little pet for my niece (who visits us most days!) as she adores all animals in all their forms! I originally started off with 2 small goldfish which my niece named Bubbles & Squeak! Bubbles being a average goldfish & squeak being a shubunkin, unfortunately after about 5 or so days Squeak died & went to the eternal pond via the toilet!, luckily though my niece didn't really notice & carried on feeding bubbles everyday
Since then; my fish family have grown and we now have 5 goldfish. Up until last night everything was fine, until I noticed bubbles had like a clear discharge coming from her (I'm assuming she is female, I don't know for sure!) I managed to clean it, but before I went to clean out the tank again before I noticed it was back (if not a little less from the night previous) I have tried to do some google research, but to no guaranteed avail! One thing I read online, was that Bubbles was 'possibly' laying eggs as the picture it showed looked similar to what I had noticed from bubbles, but then upon reading something else it said se could also have parasites or an infection inside her gut and again the picture looked somewhat similar to what was coming from bubbles, just this time in the description it said her tummy could be somewhat distended & look like she had a full stomach, but to me & my parents; Bubbles just looks like her 'normal self' & is eating fine & looks generally happy enough swimming round in the tank.
This is how I ended up here; after gooing some fish forums & upon finding you guys on yahoo questions, I thought some of you more professional fish keepers maybe able to help! I have taken a picture to the best of my ability on my iPhone so I will upload it & I would be more than grateful if any of you guys could give me some advice on what it could be! So thank you in advance!
Thank you & Kind regards,
Katie
P.S ignore the state of the tank, were going to clean it tonight, but just wanted some advice first regarding bubbles & if when we clean it, is there any precautions we should take to prevent the other little guys becoming sick from bubbles!, again thanks a lot & any advice or help will be gratefully recieved!.
