Hi i got a fluval roma 200 litre tank that has been set up now for 4 weeks and now has my 5 guppies 4 platys and 1 clown loach from my first 10 gallon tank which was set up in june.Last night my guppy gave birth to 4 fry that i seen i've got lots of plants and some breeding grass so im hoping they will be safe. BUT how long until they are no longer threatened by my other fish. Any help would be much appreciated :good:

hi Miss_Donna
they should grow pretty quick in a tank allot faster than a breeding trap.
you should start seeing them allot more in about 2-3weeks and chances are they will be allot more than the 4 uv seen :good:

hey there, congrats on the new arrivals. Im new to the hobby and the site as well.
I became a proud parent 2 weeks ago Lol :D after a few months of tryin.
ive read some places dat with enuf plants the fry could last, but to be safe i moved all adult fish to another tank.
maybe you could consider moving the adults back to the 10 gallon for awhile, like i said just to be safe.
i used cycled water from my main tank to set up new tank for the fry and moved them in before lettin the adults back to their home lol.
ive 30 fry now :)

Aww thanks for the reply Drewry she's still pretty fat so im gathering she's not finished yet and she's also still shying away from the others. :D

Hi 21 i was going to do that my other tank is still set up but made the mistake of turning off the filter and removing all the fis and my lfs said now i will have to start the cycle again.

Oh and congrats on becoming a Mama im a Nanna lol

as long as you've got plants i wouldn't start seperating the fry from the parents , as they breed so easily you will soon be over run with fry
So if you leave them all together in the tanks and do the survival of the fittest method you should end up with some nice strong fish

cheers sarah

When I suggest that people can leave their livebearer fry with the adults I have in mind something like this.

It is the clump of java moss in my 20 gallon endler tank.
