So, I have got a 16 gal tank lying redundant and cant decide waht to do with it. It was my sorority tank, but as we now house our females individually it doesn't have a use.

Got 2 ideas -

1. Divide it into 4 for male bettas

2. Stock it with something different. I rather like Rams, Rasboras (copper, harlequin & Galaxy) and some of the smaller cat fish.

Then again I also like barbs like tigers and sharks............LOL

Come on what other fishies do you keep? Anyone keep anything unusual or particularly interesting?

I haven't really got anything unusual but you could try the following:

Tanganikyan set up with shelldwellers.
Puffer tank, as already suggested.
Peacock Gobies.
Pair of Apistogrammas.

If you like Galaxy Rasboras, then it may be worth setting it up as a breeding tank for them.

i recently got some badis (scarlettes yesterday) and they have such great little characters, so curious just like bettas, was funny watching them meet my 2 plecos they slowly swam toward them, then darted in the opposite direction

Oww, good replies:) Will be off googling for a bit to have a look at them :)

divide it up for males. for whatever reason my babies in larger space grow up faster then the boys in jars. even when the jars water is changed two to three times a day.

We already got 5 divided betta tanks, plus 3 15gal+ tanks, and about 40 1gallon tanks :)

I do like the look of the Apistogrammas though :good: Sound very peaceful too, which will make a change lol Not sure about puffers?? They look cute, but that would be it for the tank.

The Badis look quite fun little guys too.

Think a round trip of the LFS's is called for. Got 5 within 25 mins of home, so thats gotta be a 6 hour day out lol

Yeh, we are lucky. There is a sixth, but buy a thermometre from them  They managed to let 4 male bettas die in 3 days of getting them cus they had them in with guppies and tetras etc....

Oh, just had another thought  Many years ago i had a 4ft marine set-up, anyone know if this tank is big enough for reef type set-up?

yep but you would only be able to have 1 or 2 fish, and you would need 4 24 watt T5's if you want to keep all types of coral

Thanks for that. Just looking at the hood on the tank......doesn't look to be enough room for the T5's. A change of hood would be easy enough though :good:
