Ok guys so here is the situation, i currently have a 10 gallon tank with 2 fantail goldfish in and iam aware that this is not big enough, the tank also has a sucking loach and 6 WCMM's in.

I got myself on ebay and got myself a the FLUVAL DUO 1000 (i think thats the model) i used the calculator with the measurements and got 39 UK gallons. Iam picking the tank up on saturday but it comes with 2 Angel Fish, and 30 shoal fish (which is what it says in the description on ebay from what i can see they are neon tetra and some others), it has an external filter with it.

And after a quick google i found some topics stating that Fancy Fan-tail goldfish could be kept in a tropical aquarium? if this is true then would i be able to put the fantails in with the angel fish and neon tetras? or do i need to get a new larger tank for the fan-tails as i dont want them to get ill.

Thanks for all replies guys!

P.S. These are the tank dimensions: 18 INCHES HIGH, 16 INCHES DEPTH, AND 39 INCHES LONG

Well i think the heat would be the biggest concern as there cold water fish putting them in a heated tank would not be good for them

But saying that i have two black moors fancy goldfish and there true cold water fish but because of the heat the tank temp is around 25c ( with no heater of course ) and they look fine

thanks for the reply m8, my coldwater tank sits at around 25 degrees C sometimes, i just thought that them being in the warer water would be better for them to have the extra 30 galons

I wouldn't suggest it m8 the long term heat due to the heater would play havoc with the goldfishes matoblism and eventually could kill the fish BUT i could be wrong maybe someone could correct me

hmm guess i would have to get another tank then, another question if you dont mind answering it lads, its 39 gallons, and i have no choice what fish go in because the fish come with it, that is 2 angel fish and so she says around 30 shoal fish, is that over stocked?

It's probably right on the stocking limit if not a bit over, if the external filter is a decent one and is established then it should be ok.

Be warned that as the angels grow they may eat the neons as neons are their natural food in the wild

ok so here is the pic off ebay, can you tell me what the 'shoal fish' are in there? im sure i can see tetra

Thanks Lewis

Its a bit far away and blurry to tell for definate but there is certainly neons in there and it also looks to me like there are some glowlight tetras in there as well
