Heeey guys

Been lurking the forums and found a TON of good information here that has been super helpful in getting my first fish tank setup!

I never new it was going to be this difficult to take care of a fish (something i'm sure everyone felt in the beginning) seems like a dog would be much easier lol!

I have been doing water changes once every 2-3 days, of about 15%-20% (please tell me if this is too much, for some reason I feel bad if I wait too long to change water) also have been feeding fish once every 2 days, sometimes I feed a few days in a row as well if my fish seem hungry, but usually don't feed too much each time.

Anyways, I have a 33 gallon tank (sorry for blue gravel, have thought about switching to sand in future!) with the following: (also added description on each personality)

1- Angelfish - Gets chased away by the ram, and the gourami always tries to touch him, annoys my pleco, but otherwise keeps to himself, cant wait for him to get bigger!

1- Opaline Gourami - Funny fish, originally I had a red tailed black shark but was wayyy to aggressive to my bolivian ram so I took him back and exchanged him for this gourami who I love, although is very weird and corners my angelfish but only to feel him with his little feelers.

1- Pleco... I think it is a common pleco, he was my first fish I love him so much he minds his own business and everyone else keeps out of his way, the king of the tank, I KNOW he is going to outgrow my 33 gallon unfortunately from what I have read, but this tank was given to me for free and I do plan on upgrading in the future.

1- Bolivian Ram - One of my favorites, he is quite shy and very cautious, always defends his territory from the angelfish but leaves everybody else alone.

3- Rummynose Tetras - Funny fish, always together, unfortunately only 3 at the moment I am thinking of getting 7ish more to make a shoal of 10.

I do feel my tank is feeling a bit empty right now and sometimes you can't even tell there is fish in it, do you guys have any recommendations of fish I can put in here? I wanted another bigger fish rather than a bunch of small fish, would prefer some sort of New world cichlid, like Keyhole Cichlid, or Firemouth, but have heard the firemouth can be quite aggressive and I already have quite a bit of bottom fish, and keyholes are hard to find here.

I was also thinking of getting a shoal of lemon tetras.

Anyways let me know :D open to all ideas and critisism's,

Nice tank. Welcome! :good:
Thanks sooo much! I love it, have had it for about a month now and I still find myself sitting and staring at them for hours at a time lol.

It just feels so empty not sure what else to put in there, I really don't want fish attacking eachother it stresses me out so I'm very cautious about what I put in.

Maybe some corys.?
funny you say that,

i was just at the LFS recently and saw some Panda Corys that really caught my eye, the thing is the ram, pleco, and the gourami seem to stay lower in the tank already (gourami is up and down) i was hoping for something to occupy the top half more,

Although Corys would be pretty cool, how big of a shoal would you recommend? 5-6?

For the top half of the tank have you looked at the Zebra/leopard and Golden Danios.

Great fish..

very nice welcome to the forum

Nice looking blood parrot. Alot of people don't like the hybrids, but I think the blood parrots are beautiful. Welcome to the forum! :good:

Thanks :D

I love them, I think they're beautiful as well, although I know why a lot of people don't like them but mine doesn't have much of a mutated mouth, also he is going to get bought either way, i'd rather buy him and give him a good home than somebody else!

He's quite a character, he digs a lot and picks up gravel and spits it out, he got stuck in my pirate ship today don't know how he found his way inside of it, I eventually got him out trying not to stress him out too much, funny thing is he looks less stressed now than before, I think he is greatful that I saved him LOL, took the pirate ship out, going to get some rocks or something for him that will work better :)

Sorry to hear your blood parrot got stuck in the ship. Glad you found him and got him out. If you are still thinking about cories, I'd go for no less than 6. They love to be in big groups. :good:
