As some know I have a 30 gallon hexagon tank. Is there anyway I can light this tank so plants like amazon sword and java fern can live well. Also so it doesn't cost hundreds of dollars, I don't mind spending some money but some of these prices on lighting is ridiculous.

I know this isn't in the plant section but no one seems to be in that forum for a while, so if anyone here has any ideas please tell.

Hey!
We have the exact same problem (note my sig), I ended up buying a 18in SunPaq Retrofit 1x96 watt Quad SmartPaq (from marinedepot.com). It's just the bulb, hardware and reflector, so you have to build a hood for it (I'm a teacher, so luckily the shop guys at school can do it cheap, as I'm clueless...). The retro fit kit was $85, so with a small gift for labor and wood, I'm out about $100...

Hope that helps!
