I had to move Samatrah into the community tank last night as one of my platies has ich (darn fiance won't listen) I moved the platy to the betta tank.

I watched sama for a good 2 hours after putting him it. he checked every fish in the tank letting them know he was boss now but attacked no one. basically he swam small circles as all of the fish approahed him. he flared once at the large long finned danio (he tried nipping sama fins) after sama fared up the danio will only stay on the opposite side of the tank (hehe, happy to see as he had been terror in the tank anyway) checkmate baby.

when I woke this morning all of my fish were alaive and sama as usual was sleeping next to Fao (whiptail catfish that shares betta tank with him) with his fins covering Fao like a blanket. he is such a good boy

It sounds to me like you really are crazy about your betta if you have any neons watch them because they will nip a lot of people say they havent never heard of neons nipping before but I have seen them with my own two eyes they plucked my poor betta to death before i caught them.And I can tell by the way you talk about your you really love him so it is best to solve a problem before it becomes a problem if you know what I mean

no neons, tank mates are:

1 albino shark
1 whiptail catfish
3 marigold swordtails (getting a new tank to share with the platties)
6 pristella tetras (they don't nip, very well behaved)
3 long finned blue danois (going to a friend tonight) they will have no place in my new tank
2 mixed fruit tetras (going with the danios)

I just thought I would let you know what I have been threw with the neons I cant figure out why they like to nip but mine did I sure am glad you love your little fellow that good it is rare to see someone like me over fish for a change I guess I get mad to easy sometimes it is only because I love them so much and dont want to see none of them sick

Hi guys!!

i have a 30 gallon with 4 swords 2(2 female 2 male). assortement of platies
2 male guppies and 2 female guppies, totaling, 13 fish.

Can I add a betta to the fine waters?
