Hi, my first post in this forum and I just want to share s short film with my Heros red shoulder with fry. The father is not more than 1,5 years old while the mother is a bit oldeer not shure exactly how much.

It is a 936 liter tank with 5 heros, 30 Hyphessobrycon erythrostigma and 10 Geophagus sp Tapajos orange heads. I am about to remove one Heros and add 4 Tahuantinsuyoa macantzatza.

I bought 5 heros and I have now 2 pairs and both have spawned with resulting fry.

However they seem to eat their own fry after a few days of free swimming fry. Is that to be expected or are they not mature enough yet to handle their fry?

Possible that they are not mature enough yet or the Geos/Tetras are posing to much of a threat.

Absolutely stunning tank btw :) what is the dimensions and filtration on it?

Wow awsome video and what an absolutely stunning tank you have.

Thanks for your kind words. It is 160x90cm and 65cm high.

I have an eheim 2260 external filter filled with macaronies(?) + 10ppm filtermaterial in the bottom and 2 ciculation pumps build into the back to nature modules on each side. Also the BTN modules are filled with material good for bakterias (macaronies?) + 10 ppm filter in the bottom.

In total 1900+1500x2 liters per hour so fairy much but the water is still calm enough.

nice tank and fish

music?

I just picked some music from youtube that i thought fitted with the fry clowd.

I have gone for a tank that has lots of places to hide with caves and dark areas. The fishes seem to dig it. I have 2 pairs of Severum that have laid eggs and got fry. One of the pairs have had fries 3 times and the other once. And that in 2 months. I also have Geophagus Tapajos orange heads and they have spawned with resukting fry twice. That pair is currently chewing fry and should release them sometime next week. Probably today I will have free swimming fry from my severums again (that is the 3:rd for that couple)

BTW, I'm a swede (excuse my english) just found this forum and thought you had some interesting stuff here.

The fry I got from the film above is now 5 weeks old and I have a small film showing how I feed them with brine shrimps.

I have hatched the shrimps in a plastic box from were I suck up the shrimps using a small manual pump(?) and then pushes them out and into the tank with the fry. The fry just get crazy when they get this stuff.
