The water is a little murky as I had just finished when I toook the pics, its all nice and clear now,
all info of it is in my sig

I think it looks great. I was trying for the same feel in my tank, I dont think I pulled it off as good as you did!!!!! Did you glue all those rocks together? I like the sand look on top of some of the rocks!! A+++++ :shout:

It looks great chish! Eveyone's growing up nicely too. :good:

Looking good chish - i love the rockwork and even the plastic (at least i'm guessing its plastic) grass looks good. :good:

spiffing cheers for all the compliments, I am well chuffed with it.

lol yeah ferris those plants are plastic, I might put a couple of real ones in for them to munch on.

And no the rocks aren't glued, I used 4 big base rocks underneathe it all, so its all solid, it took a while to position them all.

what about the stocking, does it look ok? I am thinking about taking the lombardoi's back, I think its one female and one male, but the seem fine at the mo.

cheers chish

anyone got any suggestions on my stocking?

Wow! :good: The tank looks really good, bet it took ages!!

The fish will love it, plus they've lots of caves to hide in!

I'd love a tank that size, but as yet have no room! one day.... !!

Ok, I'll take a stab at your stocking:

4 l.caeruleus - I'd add another lab or two, they do best in larger groups, especially when kept with more aggressive tank mates.

2 m.lombardoi - personally I'd rehome them, IMO they are just too boisterous for a mixed tank, especially kept in small numbers.

2 m.greshaki - If one of these is a male, I'd add at least 2 more females (if they are both males, I'd replace one with a female).

3 m.estherae - Again I'd get one or two more

1 p.demasoni - fine by itself

3 p.acei - I've found acei do just fine in smaller groups, so I'd keep them like they are.

1 m.exasperatus - I've never kept these before, so I can't comment.

1 upside down catfish

BN pleco

So my proposed stocking for you would be:

5-6 l.caeruleus
4-5 m.greshaki
4-5 m.estherae
1 p.demasoni
3 p.acei
1 m.exasperatus
And your catfish of course.

With your filtration, and they excellent caves you have set up, I think the stocking would work just fine.
Hope that helps. -Dawn

thanks dth,

i didn't think I would be able to fit anymore fish in, so thats good news. cheers,

Yeah I wanted to re home the lombardoi any way, I dont like them as much as the other fish.

so some more labs x2 , estherae x2 and greshaki's x2 females

Good job regarding the aquascaping,

It looks very natural and pleasing on the eye. However, I have one of two changes that if it was my tank I would do (not saying that you should do it, its just a suggestion). I would move some of the rocks on the RHS of the tank and make the pile on the LHS higher. There are two reasons for this, by moving the rocks from the right (in particular that "big" one) you will be increasing the area of open sand, this will break up the look of the tank and provide the appearance of varying habitats. I know mbuna will breed in a cup of water but by having a large sand area for a courtship area you might get to see some more mating rituals. In addition, by increasing the height of the rocks on the LHS of the tank you will be encouraging the fish to use the areas higher up in the water column at other times apart from feeding.

Also regarding the plants, the plastic plants look well but they are no substitute for the real thing. It might be an idea to try some Java fern or a type of Anubis which are both fairly resilient to the onslaught of vegetarian fish. I have seen a fabulously large mbuna tank planted sporadically with java fern and it looked excellent. Remember the bonus side of java fern is that the rhizomes need to be tied to a rock of piece of wood making it well anchored in a mbuna tank.
