Hi all,

I am after some advice please.  Can anyone tell me whats wrong with my plec?  I thought maybe she was going to lay eggs and there is in the pic a egg attached to her (Which has now vanished)  However some people are telling me its serious bloat... so I guess I just need help on whats wrong with her and how I can help her if its serious.....

Have you seen her poop? I am guessing she is seriously constipated from the second picture which could be a gas bubble. Is she eating? if so soak some de shelled peas in garlic, The peas will act as a laxative and the garlic will help the infection as it has antibacterial properties that can help with the bloating. If you have a separate tank that you can put her in do so and do as many water changes as you can manage. You would only need a heater with multi waterchanges there is no need for a filter, I mean like 3-4 a day 20-30% dechlorinated water if you have a pump and airstone I would recommend using one. The more clean water you can flush through her system the better and its faster than medicating.

Would fasting help at all?

I have never tried it but a lot of people use Epsom salt for constipation.
