I have had fish tanks for years my Africans are dying one by one over the last 24 hours. They are shaking violently then they die a few hours later. Now they are at the top of the tank gasping for air. I have a 75 gallon tank ph 7.6 I tested the water for ammonia and nitrates, tests negative. I have an acua clear 110. I have done water changes the past 12 hours. Please help me save my remaining fish, anyway I don't have enough filtration?

It has to be water condition with that quick a die off. Did you check nitrites too? Liquid test, not strips? Test kit not expired? Symptoms indicate damage to gills or lack of dissolved oxygen in the water. Damage to gills would come from high ammonia, high nitrite, very high nitrate, or low ph. Any possible contaminants near the tank?

I don't check for nitrates, I have had the same problem about A year ago? How do I remedy the problem if it's nitrates? My wife cleaned the top of the hood a few days ago. She said she didn't spray anything

No damage to gills, but fins damage. I also saw a few of the dead fish with i c k. I haven't seen any I c k until today. I did a 25% water change and raised the temp to 82

Ick could be the whole problem. It tends to infect the gills. It is entirely possible that you lost your fish to Ich without seeing that many white spots. I take back what I said about it having to be water condition. Ick could cause death pretty quickly when it settles in the gills. That would explain the hanging at the top gasping, even though you did water changes. In regards to nitrates, your weekly partial water changes should keep levels in check.

Would that explain the twitching and fast deaths. I have lost about 15 fish today the rest are just hanging around near the surface. Would the water changes save the remaining fish?

Woah! 15 fish lost in one day?! I would think their deaths alone would raise your ammonia sky high. I would do a big water change at this point. See if those ones stop hanging at the top. I've never known anyone that lost that many fish in one day to disease (except for Cardinals and Neons.) Again I am suspecting water quality is the main culprit, I didn't realize we were talking about so many fish.

#136###, I had the same thing happen to me,this time last year. Lost the entire tank. these are healthy chicleds that Just drop dead in 24 hours. Is it possible my filter acua clear 110 isn't strong enough? And my ecosystem just crashes? I have had fish my whole life and never had this problem before. It's devastating, iI don't even want fish anymore. I have had some of these fish for an entire year? Both times.

Sorry man. It's really hard to lose that many quality fish so quickly. I don't think your filter is the problem. Isn't it supposed to pump 500 gallons per hour? You didn't mess with the filter media in the past week, did you? Sorry I can't offer too much help. It's hard to be sitting here trying to figure this out.
