My biggest tiger barb's left eye had at least tripled in size since this morning when I fed him. I have read a couple of books but find no disease this is a symtom for. Please help! If it is a disease, can I cure it? Is it going to affect other fish? :( :( :( :(

Popeye (exophtalmia) can result from rough handling, gas embolism, tumors, bacterial infection, or vitamin A deficiency. Gas bubble or bacterial infection can be treated successfully with penicillin or amoxicillin.

A picture would help to positively identify it. I would remove the fish to a quarantine tank. Keep an eye on the others.

Defiantely move to a quarantine tanks as Impur said, also check your water qualities, Ammonia, Nitrites/Nitrates as water conditions degrading can lead to pop eye.

My male molly has it at the moment, he was in a bad way last night, he seems to be better this morning. I am treating him with an internal bacteria medicine and keeping an eye on him.
