Hi all I'm new to keeping discus I bought 2 discus 2 weeks ago they was fine together then added 2 more 3 days ago then my 2 older ones went dark I'n colour all 4 stick together and now none of them are eating any idears

My water is
No3 0
No2 0
Gh. 16d
Kh. 3d
Ph. 7
Ammonia 0

I do water every odd day about 40 % oh and there I'n a 60 gallon tank , if you need any more info let me know thanks

sounds like discus plague.

when introducing discus from different suppliers etc they can do this as they will have different immune systems and have stronger defence systems against different types of disease.

its advised when buying discus to get them all at the same time and from the same supplier to prevent this.

the ones that are black may need isolating if possible and treating with an internal parasite med but if non of them are eatimg it may be wise to treat them all.

Thanks for that mate I got some Melafix is this any good it's what lfs told me to use and some almond leafs aswell

i think you are going to need more than that to be honest.....

can you seperate the 2 dark discus in another tank and see how they get on?

Check your water again. What's the temp of the tank? That could be a problem I keep mine in the high 80F so over 26C .

I would do a water change and bring the temp up.

Stress and bully's can cause dark fish. The new fish mint not be eating because they are picky. The old ones are stressed from the new guys being added because now the pecking order needs to be established allotter again.

The temp is 29 and yes I will keep doing daily water changes one of them has got there colour back and is swimming around with the new 2 just the other one dark but looking a bit better today

They were just stressed from the addition of the new guys. Arevthey eating? I have 2 moody discus. One of mine always seemed darker then the others. Now that everyone knows there place in the tank he is fine. I have another that gets really dark when trying to stand up to another fish. It's normal for them to change colors as long as they change back. Some fish are more moody then others.

What do you feed them?

I feed them frozen blood worm brine shrimp a discus frozen food discus flake food and beef heart . Any other foods you would recommend

glad to hear they seen to be getting better and more colourfull. it must have been as snowflake said just a mood from the adition of new fish.

try a dry product like tetra prima as ive never known any fish to not take it. give them a good mixture of foods so they dont get stuck on one type but mix dry and frozen dont just stick to one type.

Just when I thought things was getting better I had it all wrong by my fish behaviour rubbing against plants I took a close look at them and it looks like they got ich small White spots on there body how's it best to clear this up I'n my discus setup please

oh wow that could be the end of them, hopefully its not too late

raise the temperature to 30/32
treat the tank with malachite green asap, make sure you remove any carbon from your filter first
continue treatement for at least 2 weeks, maybe more

its also important to read up on the ich life cycle so you know what you're up against

Just been to me lfs and matey I'n there asked me if any other fish had White spots on them I said no there all ok just my discus and he said it sounds like flukes so he told me to buy some tremazol does this sound right

whatever it is you need to get on top of it quickly or you'll loose em
