Hello everyone I hope someone can help me! I have had my fish "Teddy" for about a month now and everything's been fine. But recently I noticed hes been looking bored lately so I researched what I could do and found that I could add a new piece of tank decor. So I went to the nearest Petsmart, where I purchased him, and bought a cool looking cave/coral piece, complete with holes in it that he could swim through. But when I put it in his tank his personality has changed dramatically! He is doing what it looks like ramming the sides and isnt going anywhere near the cave. I dont know what to do. I tried feeding him and of course, being a hungry fish ALL THE TIME he ate happily and quickly. I dont know what to do and I dont want him to hurt himself. If I need to I will of course take the new piece out. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

is he flaring (displaying) at the reflective sides of the tank or at the ornament? With a betta, its the first thing i'd presume - something new into his territory and he wants to show it who's boss - even if it is an inanimate object

Thanks for the advice. He was flaring, and opening and closing his mouth in a defensive and territorial manner. It lasted about 6 hrs, and thankfully he didnt hurt himself. It was probably just as stated above, he was trying to show the object whos boss. He now goes in his cave all the time! Thanks again!

What size tank is he in?
i assume it is large enough if a "cave/coral type thing" can fit in it. so long as it is heated and frequent water changes/ filtered.
he sounds cute! cant wait to see pics
cheers
