Help!

Sounds like this is what has caused your bloom, you washed the gravel etc too well before you replaced it,you have washed off the bacteria that has built up since you've had the tank.therefore it has started a bacteria bloom, has long has your stats stay at zero, you should be fine and ride out the cloudiness by doing small water changes daily it will eventually clear...

Hi again :)
You dont have to rinse your gravel (if i understood right) it contains some good bacteria that helps your tank use a gravel vac or a syphon to take the muck off the surface and at the same time it removes water for you to do a change this might help ive only ever vacced my gravel and sand to keep it clean and it works fine
good luck scot :)

I desperatly need a gravel vac or i won't be able to do that but i can't afford a gravel vac atm and i don't know when i can get to my LFS again as i'm quite busy atm.

use a piece of hose pipe if you have one in the garden or anything just make a syphon ive seen a home made one using hose and a pop bottle it worked great

cant help you then you said you cant get to your lfs so i thought you might have access to a few inches of hose pipe if its causing you so much stress ask anyone you know i would if it was me
scot :)

Any piece of flexible tubing will work, Use a piece of old tights or stockings (not wooly ones lol) over the end so you don't suck up gravel or fish just the muck.

My 4ft did this recently - after 2years of clear water it went so murky it was like someone had tipped mud in it. Plenty of water changes, light feeding and in my case I left the lights off unless I needed them just to check the fish and it is now clear. It has taken a while but patience is key with everything in this hobby.

Thank you so much for all the help you have given me it seems my worries were not really needed as my tank is not perfectly clear but isn't murky either i can now see clearly to the back of the tank.

All my fish are doing great and still eating. Can you look at my other topic, my 2ft tank, And tell me if you can tell whether my 2 fatest female are ready to give birth or not, as i have had them for about 1 month and they were pregnant when i got them. They just keep getting fatter.

I would still do more waterchanges though, keep doing 30% for the next few days to fully resolve it.
