Please can you help me, all my fish are dying! I cant get the anomia down in my tank. Dose anyone know the best way to get it down. To make matters worst my guppie has just gave birth to 8 babies. Thanks

Which tank? You have three in your signature?

If it's the ROMA then a large water change should get rid of the ammonia - you may have to keep doing 50% water changes, maybe twice a day until the levels settle.

Hi, Yeh its the big ROMA. Weve done two water changes but nothing seems to be working. We will give it a few more changes thank you. :good:

my plants keep looking like they are dieing they are amazon swords and keep betting brown patches on them any advice?? thanks :good:

just noticed you have a betta in the fluval edge, does he find the surface to breathe alright? i want to get a new tank for my betta but i dismissed the edge as only the small access hatch has the surface and the rest is pressed to the glass if you see what i mean.

How is he getting on in there? if it's ok i might reconsider.

Thanks

Tom

amazon swords are really slow growing (which is why they are prone to algae)...and theyre probably not getting enough nutrients

try some hygro and dose some plant fertiliser such as TPN+

To work with ammonia, you need very fast growing plants like elodea or even duckweed. Plants that are dying are making the ammonia problem worse, not better. Decaying plant matter produces, guess what, ammonia. The pretty plants that we use to decorate a tank generally do not grow fast enough to help much with ammonia. In the meantime, large water changes are your friend. I am having some trouble with one of my 10 gallon tanks and I am giving it water changes by draining until there is barely enough water for the fish to swim in and then refilling daily. The fish always look better right after the change than right before.

Agree with everything that has been said above.

How often do you clean your gravel / sand?

Remove any dead / dying plant leaves by breaking them off at the stem and keep up with the large water changes.

What water dechlor do you use?

Andy

hi i am using api stress coat it says it cleans the water and helps unhealthy fish. i clean my gravel arounf once a week. i am planing on changing to sand this weekend and taking all the water out of the tank then refiling is this ok to do as it would just be like a 100% water change? cheers

sort out your ammonia first - water changes twice daily of 50-75%

Ok thank you, i will keep changing the water at least twice a day. I got some more plants to put in the tank today to see if that helps.
