Help!?

I have recently added two apple snails to my goldfish tank but they have not moved an inch in two days! I was assured by the pet store that they were cold water snails, however after reading up, taking them out and putting them in warm water they are very active and eating!
Have i been misled? Are they cold water snails?
I have only had my 2 goldfish for a few weeks and dont want to be buying a tropical tank when my first cost a bomb!
Any advise would be great

they might take a while to come out of their shells.
in colder water their metabolism slows down so they are less active
