I have a Rio 180 and 1 hour a go i put a fully matured Fluvall 4 + into it to get it going.
I have been looking for a particular fish for ages and all o a sudden it pops up. The chances o them all going in 24 hours is probable.

One of my Tank is pure predatory and it will be eaten in there. So my question is....

With a new tank with fresh water in but a fully mature filter placed in it how long can i safely trust it with fish?

I have asked the shop to hold it for me but they say they have no room. .

Any suggestions....

if the filter is mature you can add fish to the tank as soon as the water is up to temp, in fact if you don't add fish within 24 hrs then the bacteria will start to die off and you may need to cycle again. so go get your fishies :good:

Hi Tiger Tiger :)

I do this kind of thing whenever I get new fish or want to set up another tank. As long as there's at least enough bacteria in the filter to remove the ammonia and nitrite from the fish you plan to add, all will be well.

If you took your filter from another tank, watch that one to be sure there is still enough bacteria in there to reproduce themselves quickly without an ammonia spike. :D
