He seems happy in there though
By saying he seems happy do u mean "happy like yay" or just not dead yet. You have stunted its growth which is bad! The least you can do now is buy bigger tank or give him to someone with a suitable tank. DO NOT BUY ANYMORE! If you want help with stocking suitable fish for that you may be able to fit a betta, an otto or 2 and a african dwarf frog. NOT MULTIPLE CICHLIDS(or even 1) THAT HAVE THE POTENCIAL TO GET 8 INCHES!

He seems happy in there though

This gets said a lot, and in worse situations than this (i.e. ones where the fish are doomed within days or hours, not just suffering). In most cases, people are missing signs of stress or illness, or even interpreting warning signs as good behavior. Among the extreme ones I've read "my shrimp are so happy they're jumping out of the water" "my male bettas get along great and even swim in circles around each other" and "I think those white specks are normal. He's happy and playing on the gravel and everything"

By what reference or experience are you determining he's happy?

Well if it wernt for me that fish would of bean dead anyway

Mate had it before me and he was a stupid idiot and forgot to turn of the plug on the heater and it whent pop

And i no that tank is abit small for it but shes doing ok and i will get a hole new set up for it

Ok - well as advised DONT put anymore in there! Get it a new home ASAP, good job on rescuing it atleast.

im srry i went a little off I didnt understand the situation. But good job for saving it and making an effort to help it :good: anyway try to get the biggest tank possible (minimum of about 50 gallons) But the bigger a tank you get the more fish you can keep so good luck!

Hi there, does seem you've found yourself in a bit of a tough situation :/

until you can get a bigger tank the best thing you can do for your fish is to keep the water as clean as possible, to do this effectively you'll need a test kit and you'll need to understand some of the basics of water chemistry.

If you read the link in my sig 'whats cycling' it explains what all the different chemicals are and what they should be, if you can get a liquid test kit and do some tests on the water then post the results here we'll help you to decipher them and work out what's the best maintenance routine to keep the fish as happy as is possible in such a small tank.

If you also look at the link in ym sig about maintenance this will help you out too :good:
