Hello,

My blue gourami has been sitting up at the top or at the bottom but he never swims around and he doesnt eat much anymore. Any ideas on whats happening to him. His tail is fine and looks like he is in good condition.

Are your water stats ok? That's the first thing you should check if you suspect something is up...

Is it gasping for air. Well u need to say bye bye to it in couples of day.

another helpful post

Squidman, I think you should fill out the form at the top of the emergency section and start a new thread immediatley. It could be so many things we need more info, hopefully a mod can move this for you to the appropriate section. Best of luck :good:

No, it does'nt seem to be gasping for air at all. All he does is sit by the filter or heater or he will sit behind a big rock in my tank.

Is he laying to oneside on the bottom of the tank.
Gouramis are more prone to bacterial infections.
What does it look like when he goes to the toilet.

Hi Squidman :)

Since you say your gourami seems to be in good condition, but is just behaving differently, I will move your thread to the Gouramis and Anabantoids section. If you see a change in his appearance, please post again in the Emergency section.

Do you have a dwarf (Colisa lalia) or a larger, three spot or opaline (Trichogaster trichopterus) gourami?

Is he bloated as once you don't see them go to the toilet it can be organ failure to constipation.
Try some shelled peas first.

Your tank size is very small for a Opaline Gourami (and your botias)

How big do opaline's get? and no he does not seem bloated. Do opalines get loneley without having another of their knid with them?
