once the temp is up add some meds, all meds should be ok for pregnant fish

Don't use both temperature and medications. I prefer the heat method as the medication is poisonous to the fish, but more poisonous to the ich.

You should set the temperature at 87F and leave it there for two weeks until the last signs of ich disappear to make sure you're killing it all off. Don't crank up your temperature straight to 87F. Take it up a degree or two each hour so the fish can adjust. A separate tank to do this in is preferred generally, a quarantine tank.

so could i use the meds and not the or vice verse and still get rid of

both ways are ok for treating ich, a combination of the 2 is fine, just choose 1 or the other or both, i always use meds for ich as well as increase the temp. just because someone says DONT doesnt mean that its the wrong thing to do, its just the way they prefer to do it themselves and we all do things differently :good:

The meds will definitely work, and it is my preference to go pure heat method. I did state the reason being that the medicine is essentially a poison that fish tolerate much better than the ich. The other thing to watch out for meds is that certain fish are much less tolerant of the meds, like Tetras. So if you have a mixed tank, that may cause a dilemma.

true it does depend on the other species in the tank as well

i personally put my fish before my wallet

Like Modaz said, it shouldn't be a money issue. It comes down to taking care of the fish. We've taken on the responsibility of the fish. mjleach419, you know your options now. Hopefully things go well for you.

i never said that cost was and issue because its not i'll buy anyhting needed for my daughters fish to live and be happy

anyway i put the ick med in the tank last night i'm getting the heater tomorrow but the guy at the fish tank never told me to take out my algie eater and this morning i awoke to a dead one so i'm going to wait until i do that last reatment and get another about a week after so that i can clean the tank and allow some algie to form so it wont starve all the fish seem to be getting better on some the white spots are gone and the others it is going away i was told this would not hurt the preggers is this true we have two

not saying money is a problem lol, just saying some folks do like to watch the money! anyhow hope it all goes well, and when u say you will buy a heater am i correct to presume you have cold water fish
