i just got my girlfriend a smaller bubble tip nem for her 12gl nano cube tank 3 days ago. it was looking great before we went out early today, but we just got home and it was upside down on the sand bed, and kinda floating around.. it's mouth looks to be somewhat open also! is her new nem dieing? :/

Thanks!

Probably... When they turn themselves inside out like that they tend to be on their way out :(

While bulb tip nems are amongst the hardiest I'd still never reccomend one for a nano

its probably stressed from being in such a small environment. even if its small it can still get stressed from it.

SkiFletch Why would you not recomend one for a Nano?!?

Because nems need decent light, good flow and very good conditions. In a nano you don't have as much room for error if anything should happen before the conditions get a bit nasty for the nem.

Also, nems like to pick their own spot, a larger tank has more chance of there being a suitable spot.

Yeah, Andy's right, no room for error. Lighting really isn't that big a concern tbh, nanos are pretty easy to light. However chemistry, water quality, and flowrate are near impossible to get correct enough and stable enough in a small nano for an anemone. Sure if you've got a decade of experience keeping marines you might be able to do it, but those people are the exception, not the rule.
