My killifish died this morning, i came back from sch the afternoon to see him lying on the sugar sand substrate.
I was just going to take a photo of him today and ask for a name for him, who would have guessed that he had pass on.
He has a blob of yellowish substance on his stomach and some 'cracks' in the blob.
I just got him for the fourth day and he ate only one short strand of tubifex worm during these four days.

Here are the water stats.

Ph: 6.9
amonia: 0
nitrite: 0
nitrate :0

i just took the water stats today and i touch the sides of the glass wall to find that it is not slimy whatsoever.
He lived in an unfiltered one gallon tall glass tank with a plant and sugar sand substrate 1 cm high.

Pls help me to find out who or what or why he died, so i can sleep in peace tonight. :shout:

disappointedly,
J'rey:-(

He was probably stressed out and since you dont have a filter then he probably died because the difference of the clean( depends on the lfs) water to the stagnet bowl water. The only fish that I recomend putting in a bowl is a betta.

i couldn't get a filter as the lfs ran out of filters of any sort,
and the lfs he came from had no filter and was one a tank less than 500 ml,
so i pitied it and bought it.

R.I.P.,
my little nameless friend

If you want to keep kilifish you should at least get a ten gallon tank. And of course get a filter, bio-wheels are the best becasue they create a home with beneficial bacteria so you dont have your fish die of ammonia or nitrites.

Oh?
the lfs shopkeeper said that killifish is a relative of betta,
and could be kept in tank of at least 1 gallon and no filter,
but if there's a filter it should be kept at a sloww speed.

The LFS will tell you anything to make a sale. Next time it'd be better to ask here before you buy anything, that way you know what'll be best for your set up, and no fish will be harmed in the process ;)

But I agree about the bowl, no fish should be in one. You can get tanks cheaper than some bowls nowadays, you just have to look in the right places. Ebay's a good start :)

true,
but i've known that shopkeeper for slightly over five years( i go there on alternate days) and he's not that kind of guy, or is he?
ok, i'll take your advice and try my best to ask about things to buy here before i actually buy it.

i hate bowls as it really obstructs the view of the fish in it and makes the fish uncomfortable.
i also distrust any online purchase even though ebay is a good site as i'm afraid to be cheated.
