Help

Thanx again for the advice guys !!

Ive just come back from the Tropical Centre, and they have carried out my water tests, and i have purchased a full Kit myself, rather than the strips i were using, which i now find out dont test for ammonia :/

I would also like to say, i did cycle my tank for 2 weeks prior to getting any fish, and just started off with 6 small hardy fish, i didnt add anymore till a week later, then another week later...

I have also had a word with them about the Silver Sharks that they sold me (x2) which 1 died, i have asked them about my tank size, and that really they shouldnt have sold me this type, but they said mine is very small about (2inch) so is perfectly fine for the moment in my tank, but yes it will grow bigger, so either to buy a new tank, or take it back when it grows and they will give me another small one Lmao....(i somehow think i will be back to square one)...So maybe a bigger tank is a better idea;)

Don't take it back in exchange for a small one, this is pointless. If you buy a fish then you should house it as best as is within your capabilities, and if this means buying a bigger tank for the welfare of your fish then this is the only fair thing to do.

Give it 6 months and you should be ready to upgrade, although if you buy a bigger tank sooner they will grow faster.

Thanx Ben

I have NO intention of taking it back, i am attached to it already :D I just need to upgrade to a bigger tank, i will give it a few months first, as it is only a baby, about (2inch) so we'll see how it goes

Thanx

Really you need to upgrade to a larger tank now, silver sharks are schooling fish that are not happy unless they are kept in a group of 3 or more, also they are quite rapid growers and your little 2" fish should be well on the way to 8 inches within 6 months. The clown loaches are also schooling fish and are happier in larger groups. Since you have the potential of having 66 inches of fish with just 3 sharks and 3 clown loaches you need to be looking for a tank of at least 5x2x2 feet.

Here's a couple of profiles for the sharks and loaches

Thanx alot for this information.....It gives me an excuse to upgrade to a bigger tank :D for the clown loaches and Silver Shark, then keep my 90 litre for little fish..

Be careful adding all these meds, as some will burn scaleless fish, like clown loaches..

Also, what type of test kit did you buy? The ones with the strips are known to be very inaccurate..

I bought the full Master kit....(liquid test tube kit)

The medicine that i have for bacterial fin rot etc...is harmless to other fish, so shouldnt cause any stress to them...

Im only putting Cycle in, which i have been advised to add every day, no harm to fish either

and Prime (red) just to get my ammonia level down, which today has been 0, so i just need to double check again tmrw, then again in a week, with my partial water change..

Where did you hear that this can cause problems to Clown Loaches? I dont want mine to suffer...

It's the whitespot med that you have to watch with clown loaches, as they are a scaless fish.
