Help With Tank Offers

Hi,

We've been offered first dibs on a second hand Aqua one Regency 80 tank (with stand; although it's been painted over), however what is a reasonable amount to offer for us to put in for one?

The tank is one of the older models with the wooden lid and square corners. Not sure if there is a filter in it; but it's something to ask next time we speak to her.

The older lids flake really quickly and can rot due the condensation in the gap above the waterline, which is probably why it has been repainted.

Tbh I think with this setup, sooner or later you would have to buy a new hood, and if it comes with the real cabinet you may also want to inspect the wood on the cabinet surface which started to warp on our display model at work due to condensation water seeping down the back of the tank.

Personally I wouldn't buy that model simply because so many things can and do go wrong, due to its poor design. Also without knowing if its the true cabinet and if it comes with heater and filter its hard to put a price on it.


Ironically i've just noticed someone selling the hood (new type) and cabinet for the Regency 80 on ebay,

She did say it had flaked hence the re-painting it.

to be fair though the glass is very thick and if you could get your hands on an overhead luminaire (and you didn't mind having an open top tank) then provided the tank was cheap enough it could look very good without the hood, (like your very own fluval osaka
