I went to seapets for my new girls and in amungst the deltas was a lovly rounded and chunky double tail that uve seen shes my fav girl as i love her changing colours to suit her and that she looks so different body shape to the others shes chunky they are normal sized lol
Naww, she sounds very cute :D
My pet shops are mainly full of VT's, and the occasional CT male, so I guess I was lucky to find a Delta female!

I saw the perfect betta at petco yesterday but all I've got so far is a bowl then my 5 gallon is supposed to come tomorrow. I'm gonna be busy either tomorrow of Thursday between pics and setting up and journaling etc.
hehe, take lots of pictures, we love pictures

I definitely will just gotta find time with going back to school Thursday so maybe over the weekend.

She is only young, so as she gets older maybe she will gain a few more rays making it easier to tell her tail type although it's quite obvious she's a delta at the moment :D
Thank you everyone for helping me :)

I love her coloring! Is she pure bred, home bred, or farm bred?

I bought her from the petshop so I actually don't know.. :)

Petshop ones are usually farm bred I'm pretty sure. She's got beautiful coloring.

Yeah, I guess it just depends who they buy them from.
Thank you :D

She may have delta spread, but from what I can see she lacks the multiple ray branching and straight caudal edges necessary to be a delta or halfmoon type female. To be a delta/super delta/halfmoon, a fish requires more than just the spread. She needs straight caudal edges and ray branches of at least 4 to be considered a delta.

She is most likely a veiltail or plakat female. Its a bit hard to tell because her fins are pretty short, but still a bit too long to definitely be a plakat. Most female bettas you find in pet stores with that coloration come from Plakat lines though.

I posted it in another thread but THIS is a super helpful guide to figuring out tail types in female bettas.

She's super pretty though, have fun with her :)
