any help / ideas welcome!

Paul.

The tank isnt large enough for a single GT let along two.

Other than that the rainbow cichlids, plec's and corydoras are fine.

Because a GT required a minimum of a 55g tank, which a 200L roma is not. A pair, require a 75-100g tank. These fish, if kept properly, should reach 12", so obviously in a small tank like a 200L roma, thats not going to be big enough. Plus if you want to keep them with any other fish, the tank needs to be larger so the other fish have a chance to get away, as a GT, is an extremely aggressive fish once matured.

Agreed it is not fair to keep these fish (GTs) in a 200L as they get too big and aggressive. They are called Terrors for a reason

If that stocking was put into that tank your rainbows and corys would be killed pretty quickly and if the GTs don't pair up then you will find that the one will kill the other.
The BNs would have a slim chance of survival but in a small tank aggression is heightened.

i spoke to my girlfriends brothers mate ( lol ) and said i couldn't have the fish as my tank is to small and he's a bit Peed off with me as i said id have them! Douh!!! i went round there and see the 2 i was getting off him and they are such a beautiful fish! i was gutted! :-(

so what else can i put with that stocking then peeps ? I don't want to make a mistake like i nearly did!

well you already have a good starting point so i would just built on that by adding 3-4 dither species

so
2x Rainbow cichlids
2x Bristlenose pleco
6x Leopard corydoras

plus a few of these

3 x Swordtails
6 x colombian tetras
5 x platys
8 x tiger barbs
6 x leopard or zebra danios
6 x praecox rainbows
1 x gold gourami

looked up the fish some i like some not so sure on? i was thinking of getting bigger fish but if i do that i can't have as much in the tank right? so looking at the list you said made me think about getting some smaller ones as you suggested but would the bigger rainbow cichlid be ok with platty's?? as the ones iv set my heart on in my lfs are much bigger than a platy?

i like this one but it come up as the same fish??
Gold Gourami 1

Gold gourami 2

You may be "bending" things with the gold gouramis too to be frank. Honey gouramis would fit however.

If you're looking at some bigger fish you might want to consider an african cichlid tank - when adult they're not exactly small and provided you have plenty of filtration you can get quite a nice collection.

As to new world cichlids I'll leave others to provide further alternative suggestions.

what do you mean? 1 Gold (or blue) Three-spot gourami in a 200L tank would be fine,
Honey gouramis wouldn't fit as they are too small and delicate to be kept with rainbow cichlids

The tank is too small for most african species

PDB-89, the pictures you have added show a very 'photoshopped' dwarf gourami and quite a bland gold gourami.
Swordtails get quite big really, easily as long as a Rainbow cichlid, it just might take time to grow them to that size or source some that big, An alternative could be sailfin mollys which again get to a nice size.

thanks for your help davo86!! i went to my lfs on the way home from work took the list in with me and found most of the fish on it and I'm happy with the size they are and will be better for me to have smaller fish as i only have a 200l then when i get my next tank ill go for the bigger fish! :good:

could i add some firemouth's to the list?? maybe take some away? would they all be ok togeather
