Help With Something In Pond

Hey all, my uncle has recently set up a pond in his garden, he rang me up yesterday because he says there 100's of little worm like things in the water. He describes them as having a pencil like body with what looks like a head at one end and the body has what looks like little hairs coming off it, he says they propel themselves by curling their bodys up and then uncurling to move. I'm not quite sure what these are and Iv'e looked in my books and can't get a definite answer, he's just worried they may be parasites which could harm the fish he has in, im thinking that some sort of general anti pond parasite treatment might be the best bet? any help would be appreciatted

sound like Midge larve to me i use them for feeding to the fish and axies,they love them

are they like these?I set a bucket of water up every year to get the midge to breed

yep ... just sounds like mosquito larve ... there harmless.... the fish will eat them
