Help With Plant Growth.

Ello, all. I've recently started going to plants as i came from a desert/rock community in my tank. Buying a few plants at a time from the usual stores and wanted to help them grow Without putting CO2 injectors in the tank. I bought the API Leaf Zone substance and i put the correct dosage in the tank. (90Gal) says to use it once a week, well i came home about 4 hours latter and my Silver tip Shark and Pictus catfish was dead. My other Pictus was still alive and all the other fish seem to be doing just fine. Anyone have any input on this type of substance or recommend one without going into CO2? Thanks again.

i dont think it will be the fert, lots of people add way higher dosages on a daily basis than what you have mentioned, although it does seem strange, but why only 2 fish? if it had an affect then the others should of been dead or showing signs of stress. Did you check the fish for any signs of disease?

Well that's what i thought, but my other pictus cat just died today. The silver tip shark did look like he was having problems the day before, one of his eyes were completely white and swollen but i just noticed it the day before i put the the substance in. The catfish were doing just fine for about 8 months now and then all the sudden die right after i put the fert in. Oh well, live and let learn. On the fert it doesn't say anything about caution harmful to some fish or your fish will be fine, like some of the other ferts did. Well its day 2 since i put the stuff in and all my other fish are doing just fine so not sure if its a cat killer or what Thanks for the reply.
