I'm about to move the 2 fantails into a larger tank, I think I can make room for a 30 gal but I may only be able to do 20 for now
I need to know if Goldfish can be in a high profile tank?
I want to know what to filter with
I currently have the Aquarclear 10-30 gal on the 10 gal tank
Do I keep this by itself, add something to it or switch all together, man at LFS knows his stuff, but he's still a salesman so I don't completely trust him

With Fanies the more filtration the better. People say that gold fish are nasty and dirty and bla bla bla, but if you devote your time to them and clean their tank frequently and dont over feed them, you wont have such a big problem.

I think I can manage space for a 29 gal right now, I'd like to put the aquaclear 10-30 on it, and the whisper 30 it comes with. I does that sound like enough? I read someones post about running a 30 gal tank with 2 aquaclear 20-50's on it but I haven't compared the gallons per hour so I don't know

If you are not going to stock the 10 again right away, it would be best to run the old filter on the new tank. That way the bacterial colonies that are built up on the old filter will move over with the fish. It may save you needing to do daily large water changes because you will be seeding the new tank with the old filter. I would definitely look to get a larger filter in the longer term because goldies do produce more waste than some other fish their size so they need more filtration but that can wait until you get them settled in and decide you want to move the old filter back to the smaller tank. At that point, the whisper 30 will probably not be enough by itself but another one about the same size would be good. That also will give you some insurance in case anything goes wrong with one of the filters.
