Hi all,
I am currently building a sump for my 6x2x2 tank that I will be getting delivered in a month or so, This is my first time using sump filtration but I have always wanted to try out a sump. Now my issue is, I need to tell the company building my tank what size holes to drill and I dont know how to calculate the sizes I need/want.
Some details about the tank and sump:
Tank: 6ft x 2ft x 2ft, 2 weirs one each end of the tank, will have 2 drains and 2 returns.
Sump: 50" x 17" x 18" (LxWxH) Drawings of sump below
So here's the break down of the sections:
1: Water enters here, and goes through a filter sock.
2: mechanical media, 3 stage sponge, floss and purigen on top.
3: K1 fluidized bed (the direction of the flow should be enough to keep it rotating but I might add a powerhead)
4: Bio home mini ultra.
5: heaters and return pump (might use 2 pumps)
So my main question here is, how can I work out the pipe work size, and pump size beforehand.
Any help, advice or information would be really appreciated.
