Hello everyone just a quick question a bit worried really. I had 6 cherry red shrimp in my tank, they had been going fine for a while they bread and all used to mind their own business, but I have noticed all of a sudden they have all started congregating at the top of the tank in big bunches as close to the surface as possible then I noticed 2 had died. I haven't changed a thing since I've put them in, haven't added anything and everything I do with the water changes is exactly how it was, pleaaaase help??

i think that they are at the top because there isn't enough oxygen in the water. i would do a large water change, and if you have an airstone put that on aswell.

cheers :good: :good:

Sounds like bad water parameters. Shrimp will actually climb out of the tank if the water parameters are bad.

What is your ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH? And what test kit are you using? Also, did you cycle the tank?

If your water parameters are good, then I would agree with the lack of oxygen.

thanks guys, turned out my filter had died so must have been the oxygen, all is fine now! :good:

You will need to kep an eye on it and check your water stats daily if your filter died as the good bacteria in it will have started to die off if the shrimp were affected. Do you know how long it was not working for?
