Hello, I have just gotten into fishkeeping about 2 weeks ago and have a 75L on my side. I have been offered my friends tank which he tells me is 200L (1000mm x 400mm x 500mm), now as I am new to the hobby I am wondering what kind of setup would be good for a tank of this size? I love the look of Bettas and was wondering what species would be ok in with one? Any help and suggestions are greatly appreciated

Thanks

Almost any of the less aggressive smaller fish will work with a betta. I keep mine with platies, otocinclus and corydoras. They would work well with the smaller tetras like black neons or with things like zebra danios or rasboras. These are just things I have kept with them. The list of possible tank mates for a betta includes almost anything with a body size that is similar to the betta, is not to nippy like tiger barbs can be and is not too flashy. The problem with large finned bright colored fish is the betta can view them as competitors and harass them. Very small fish like normal neons, the red and blue ones, are small enough that the betta may view them as potential food. If you keep a betta with livebearers, you will seldom have their fry survive.

Thanks for the quick reply old man, I will bare that in mind when I come to filling it up and putting some fish in. Thanks again :D
