I looked into the tank today and found 4 baby mollies. i currently have a breeding net, but i don't know the first thying on raising mollies, HELP

I was in the same situation last saturday (with 7 of them!). First thing is to put them into the breeding net - specially if you have a community tank as they will get eaten! I am feeding mine on liquifry a few times a day at the moment and they are doing fine, they've grown a lot already :)

If you do put yours in a breeding net, I've read that you shouldn't leave the light on too much as the water in the breeder net may get too hot if the circulation isn't adequate!

Good luck!

Raising mollies is the same as raising other live bearer fry. They need airation, lots of light, heating(77-79F), and frequent feedings(3-4 x a day). So if your tank has a filter , a light, and a heater your fine for the first three. You can feed your fry what you feed the parents but it way smaller sizes, powdered up if you can(rub food inbetween your fingers or put flakes in a bag and crunch them that way). I find having some live/ frozen foods really helps the fry have stronger developement. I feed my guppy fry powdered up flakes, freeze dried blood worms and tubifex worms . All of these are finely powdered as much as a i can to fit inside their tiny mouths.
I wouldn't leave the fry in the breeding net for more than one month(smaller quarters stunt their growth). If you can, purchase a 5 gallon(you can buy plastic ones for $30 canadian) and you'll see they will grow much faster there. After 3 months you can return the fry with their parents and feed them as regularly as the parents.
Good luck with the fry!

well, right now i have 12 fry...and counting, they have been popping up since 12pm and it's now 8pm. i think i have all of them. i currently have them in a breeding net in a 10 gal tank. i am trying to feed them crushed flakes since all the stores are closed but they are not eating.

This should have been in the livebearers forum. And this is my 100th post!
