Hi there, ive got a few fry in a 10 litre tank at the moment. I have a very strong filter, one which makes the water come out real fast out of the outlet. And,i think the fry are struggling trying not to be sucked in! So,can i stick some net around the holes of the filter and where the water come out(the outlet)?
But,if i do this, how would excess food get into to the tank and all the poop?

How many gallons is 10 liter? What kind and size filter do you have on it? If they are having to struggle it is way too strong! I would turn it off and just put a small bubble thing in until you can get something figured out.

If I am guessing right that is around 2 1/2 gallons? I also am guessing your filter hangs on the back? (you didn't say)
If so then you can get 2 slightly porous thick kitchen sponges(new). Cut a hole in the center just big enough to fit the intake in. That will cut the suction some. You will have to pull it and rinse it often though. It will get very dirty! The other one you can cut a slit just big enough for the end of the out put to slide in. You will have to tie this one on. Make sure that you have it positioned where the water is forced through it and not over or around. That will lessen the pressure there.
Depending on the size of the filter... if the filter is too big it may still be too strong for this to work.
I use adapted powerhead sponges on my intakes as prefilters to keep the fry out, and keep the water level up so it flows over the top instead of plopping down into the tank. That won't work though if the filter is too much too big though.
Gook luck :good:
