Hi
I have a female betta who arrived last week. When she arrived she quickly began flicking off things in the tank so treated with King British WS3. Flicking stopped :good:
However, now she has a light fungus covering just her anal fin  And has no appetite.
She is alone in a 6 gallon, heated and filtered. Ammonia = 0, NitrIte = 0, NitrAte = 5ppm. Temperature = 28 degrees.

Anyone got any advice on what treatment to try? Myxacin? Copper?

Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

She might not be eating due to stress so give her a few days.
How long did you climatise her for.
Any excess mucas on the gills or body of the fish.
Does the fungus look like cotton wool as fish can flick with columnaris.

Hi

Acclimatised as per normal with shipped bettas - over 1 hour gradually adding water every 10-15 minutes.
No visible excess mucus on gills or body
Its very even over both sides of the fin. Extends out approx 1mm. Not like tufts more like a blanket.

Columnaris can start at the fins and start to go down onto the body to form a saddle shape.
Does the blanket you describe look fluffy.
Fish can soon break out in columnaris when stressed.

Yeh, it looks like a the cotton wool on a roll, when you unroll it.

Right, thank you for the link :good:

In your opinion what is the best treatment? I have Myxacin, but if there is something better i can get it in the morning :good:

For columnaris in the uk myxazin by waterlife and pimafix.
Just keep a look out for whitespot, but fish can flick and rub with columnaris.

Ha, as if by magic i have pimafix too. I'll get on to that right now :good:

Thanks for the help Wilder :good:

Is it possible to load a pic up bronzecat.

I can try.......Netty is on the phone to New Zealand   and i'm rubbish at getting the photos on my laptop LOL

I can take piccies though :good:

Wondered why she hadn't answered my pm lol.
Tell her it will be costing her a fortune talking to long on the phone lol.
It sounds like columnaris. Just wanted to check with a pic thats all.

We're with Sky talk so its free........thankfully

Now, back to the betta. Too late  She's just gone. Very quick as the fungus only appeared today. The flicking had stopped 3/4 days ago and she had been eating.

I took some pictures all the same and Netty is uploading them.

Has she died bless her.
Sound like the stress was to much for her.

Yeh, i never lost one that quick before. She was out and about a few hours ago.

Just getting the pics.
