I have a 3 way divided tank, housing 3 boys. The fish in the middle seems stressed alot by this, despite the divider being clouded he seems to know there are fish on either side and is constantly flaring and running up and down the divider on both sides, which is not only stressing him but the other two. He has jumped in the past, and also has been so determined to attack the others he has managed to squeeze through a tiny hole to the other side and was attacked by my big male. I have tried everything to calm him down but i suppose some fish are more aggressive than others. The end boys are fine and have no problems, and i was concidering dividing the tank into only 2 instead of 3, and moving the middle boy out of this stressful situation.

The reason it was 3 way divided in the first place is because he was given to me by a neighbour who no longer wanted him and was going to 'flush it' and i offered to take him, and stuck another divider. This isnt working and with hindsight was a mistake.

For now he is okay, but this needs to be sorted sooner rather than later.

Now i have 3 options for him

1. Buy him a new tank to himself, which i didnt really want to do due to lack of space, hence the divided tank, but will if necessary. But does anyone know of any cheap makes of tank and where i can purchase them, bearing in mind im from the UK?
2. Put him in a community tank for the time being until i sort something out, however it has platies and tetra and he is obviously agressive.
3. Leave him there stressing everyone in the tank.
4. Rehome him, any takers

What would you guys do?!

Move the one in the middle to an end section :good: And put some silk plant along the divider.

Thanks bronze, unfortunatley i have tried moving it to every section, its just as bad anywhere!!

hey
in that case i think you will have to get another tank.
i saw the aquaseal tanks in pets @ home the other day for £20 think they are 5 gallon?

or ebay :)

Thanks, I had a look in one pets at home today, only they just had baby biorbs which i dont want, so im hoping to go to a different one tonight or tomorrow to see what i can find :)

Did you get him sorted out? P@H do a small 3 gallon-ish glass tank called 'My First Aquarium' for £15. It's not the biggest tank in the world but it's sooooo small it will fit anywhere. Obviously it's up to you if you use the rather bright gravel and the complimentary fishy stickers and cartoony backround...lol
On the upside it does have a lid, although there is a small gap so watch for jumping, and it has a tiny filter. The filter is quite strong but I put it in one back corner facing the front so it is blasting against the glass and the current is calmer for it. George doesn't mind it anyway...lol
I know it's been a week since this was raised but just curious, HTH.

Thanks Devorax

I made the decision to rehome him to my uncle who has a 5 gallon shrimp tank and wanted to take him on, he went the day after this post was started and since he is alot happier on his own and his fins have improved. I have since manage to divide the tank into 2 instead of 3 and both remaining boys seem so much happier with the extra space, well they have about 7 gallons each.

I went to p&h but it was just going to be a hassle buying a whole new tank, with filters, heaters etc so he had to go!

Okay, thanks for letting us all know what happened, it's nice to have some feedback when people want help and we find out what the outcome was, makes it seem worthwhile :)
Sorry he was re-homed :byebye: but sounds like he is better for it, so good luck to him :good:

Good for you for doing what was right for your fish selflessly people can learn a lot from you :good:

Thanks guys, i was meaning to give an update only it just slipped my mind.
Better for him, me and the other two so a happy ending all around i think!
