hi all,i was wondering if some of you guys could help me in choosing and geting the necessary tools that i need to test my water,iv asked a couple of question here and when they would ask me What are your water parameters? Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH.

I kinda end the post there because i dont know what they are and i dont have any means of testing them, i know that there supose to be pretty low but PH should be around 7.0-7.6 for my mollies but any help would be very helpfull.

i found this link on ebay im not sure if i can post but... ebay item

would this be something good or do u guys use a more all in 1 tool?

No, what they're talking about are "freshwater master test kits." The one most often cited here on TFF is the API "Master test kit" which can be found at most online sites and many local fish stores. Another one is made by Nutrafin I believe.

You need to obtain a test kit that uses liquids and test tubes, not test strips. As a beginner, you don't need to be worrying about electronic pH meters either.

I use the API one, its been fine for the job so far.

just to confirm waterdrops post, that's what you wanna be looking for :good:

wow great thanks, and another thing i been reading up on the DIY yeast Co2 and i determined that i do need it seeing as my light is not strong enough and for the amount of plants that i have in the tank, if i start pumping in Co2 what test would i have to use to determine if the level of Co2 is correct because i know i could also kill my fishes if the Co2 level get too high, would i have to get a Co2 reader or would this kit include such test??

no, what you need for that is a drop checker, if you put a post in the planted tanks section they'll be able to advise more.
