hi & help
basil our newish betta has a swelling under his gills on the left side, i cant see any redness or evidence of fungus or any growth ( but its hard to see) can anyone help me with this??? hes otherwise his usual lively self - eating & flaring madly when he spots other fish in our large tank next door. although i cant see any sort of tumour or other growth im worried this is what it could be. can i treat it or has anyone come across this before. if you look at him front on his left gill area sticks out a couple of mm further than the other side. i dont think a photo would really make much difference but i could try if this will help
thanks

Gill flukes, needs treating with something like sterazin by waterlife, easy to treat, bettas can have this without looking ill, its just the gill that gives it away.

me again, i tried to treat basils gill problem with paragon as he lives with shrimp and i believe you cant use sterazin with shrimp in the tank. anyway it hasnt worked so a couple of days ago i put him in our hospital tank & started sterazin, today a couple of hours ago i added the 2nd sterazin dose and ive since noticed that basils gill seems to be sticking out even more & i can see a small white dot at the top of his gill, hes eaten & has been swimming around, but is at this time resting near the bottom of the tank -is this normal when treating for gill flukes?? am i just panicking??? poor old basil looks rather bored stuck in the 7L hosp tank sitting near the floor with no fish next door to flirt with!!! any comments most helpful. i just want to make sure i am doing the right thing/treatment
thanks again
