HI, im sorry if this has already been posted but i dont have time to look through. i noticed this morning that my Rams have tiny white spots on their fins.im sure they werent there yesturday.Anyway, please tell me what i need to do. they seem to be 'well' at the moment. Thanks.x

go to your lfs and buy whitespot treatment, i use tetra contraspot, it works well, do a 20% water change before you dose the tank, take any carbon out of filters before you dose, and turn your heater up to about 28, people say to do this 2degrees at a time, but i just put it straight to 28.

Hope this helps

Tom

Thanks for your reply, i have done what you suggested, do i need to treat again or is once enough?

what make treatment have you used? if the whitespot is gone after about 3-4 days i wouldnt worry about it, but if still there after 5 days i'd dose it again. also when the whitespot has gone do a 20% water change, it will help get the treatment out of the water, as fish generally don't like being treated, same as humans really lol

I used King british White spot control, that is all they had. fingers crossed. thanks for your help.

you will need to retreat the tank do exactly what it says on the box even if the spots have gone.

the white spot falls of the fish and lives in the gravel for a few days it is only at this stage that the parasite is killed by the treatment.

i would also satorngly recommend that you increase air flow into our tank as an increase in tempreture and medication will lower oxygen levels by a fair amount.
