Hello everyone i recently started setting up a 75 and 55 gallon tank hoping for discus and angels in one and africans in the other noww it appears i may need to use these tanks for my rescue fish im not sure if there the same type of cichlid what the water needs and feeding needs are i know nothing! So i have them currently in the 75 gallon with a small piece of drift wood and a couple rock caves I was originally trying to wait til after the 5th bcuz on the 4th i have a large driftwood and rocks coming in and wanted to have it all set up. My fiance was on craigslist and saw an add for 10 cichlids for $obo we got them and the pleco in a plain nothing in it at all tank for $30 the tank was dirty and disgusting already 2 fish have died since the transfer which i tried 2 do slowly and yes i had checked my water my local aquarium boutique told me the levels were perfect for africans just not sure if that is ok for these guys. Currently feeding spirulina flakes and putting a piece of cucumber in at night worried about the pleco bcuz i havent seen anysigns of it eating. Also bought blood worms but i dont want to give them any even sparringly until i know its safe for all of them. So i know i have 2 electric yellow labs but the other guys.. are unknown. Ive tried looking myself but ive been wrong b4.

i know the pleco is a sailfin just dont know what kind.
the 1st cichlid is dark blue with yellow stripes
the 2nd has black and blue stripes on body and fins may be a demasoni?
the 3rd is orange and has 3 brighter spots on lower back fin
the 4th is silver with black spots and yellow fins on the bottom
the 5th is pickish all over no distinguishing marks may b a peacock?

Also should i buy more of a certian kind of fish i know some of these guys need groups

I'm not a pro but from what i know...

The third picture looks to be an acei
The fourth looks like a red zebra
the fifth looks like a nimbochromis venustus
the sixth looks like a a man-made strain of peacock, usually called dragons blood or strawberry

I'm sure others will chime in soon

I sure hope so bcuz i have my tank water set for africans.. they all seem to be doing fine so far but i dont want to feed something that maybe another kind shouldnt have or put salt in if i shouldnt or if i need to buy more of a certian species im kinda freaking out cuz im a very organized person. I wanted to wait and plan what fish and how many but when i saw these guys i couldnt leave them. 2 have already died and only have 7 now.

The Pleco looks to be an L001 Plec. I had one, they're excellent fish. Max out at about 10" iirc.

The first Cichlid (3rd picture) looks to be a Yello Tail Acei.
The 4th and 5th pictures, i would go with Pseudotropheus Saulosi (4th = male, 5th = female).
The 6th picture is Nimbochromis Venustus.
The last fish is some kind of Peacock i reckon.

Have fun. :)

Id Say the plec is a gibbiceps get to around 24"

IMO unsure of the others

Possibly it looks like a washed out gibbiceps to me but then the pictures of yours make me not that sure lol

Lol. I had a juvenile gibbi for a while which was different to the 001. Both great fish either way.

the pics you put up definately look more like mine but slightly different there are definate spots all over mine but he has those same lighter and darker colorings in about the same areas... sooo im not sure.

Mine was 6"

The lighter markings came and went, whether it be stress or something else I have no idea.
