Help Stocking A New Aquarium

I plan on keeping the following

2 Dwarf Gourami
5 green barbs
6 flame tetra
6 lemon tetra

However, this is just something I have down on paper. And was wondering what the more experienced among you would keep in 125L aquarium? My water ph is 7.2

Oh and by the way, does anyone know what type of plant this is? My local aquarium shop sells them but simply calls them "plants."

The brown specs are a product of the fishless cycle, I think.

Plant looks like some sort of crypt. Stocking sounds good. 2 points though, I'm looking into dwarf gouramis at the moment and it seems 1 male on its own, or 1 male : 2 females is the best way to keep them. The females are duller and silvery.
Also, they are quite timid, peaceful fish and I think barbs can be boisterous, so not sure how they'd do together.
I'd wait for someone who's actually kept these fish though, for a definitive answer.
How's the fishless cycle coming along?

if it was me i'd swap the 5 green tigers for 6, five banded barbs, they are much more peaceful and your Gourami won't be chased all day. Looks like a good stock list, i'd also be tempted to pop some cherry shrimp in there as well. The plant looks like a C. pontederiifolia.

You're right about the dwarf gouramis. I had that info written down somewhere but must have forgotten, silly me. The green barbs are (from what I've read so far) quite peaceful. It's their green tiger cousins which are more aggressive.

As for my fishless cycle, I'm afraid to say it's a non starter. I bought an external filter which is not worth the plastic casing it came in. So I'm stuck waiting till payday (plus delivery) and I hope to restart the cycle on monday.

I'm going with the ehiem 2215 as my new filter. By all accounts it's really good but I still have my fingers crossed.

I have looked at the five banded barbs however my water Ph is 7.2 (after being left to stand for 24hrs) and the recommended ph for that breed of barb is 6-7 Which is a shame as they do look beautiful.

These are my definite buys because they do well in a temp range of 23 - 28c and a water ph of 6 - 7.5

And although this will not make things easier I believe the end result/community will benefit because of the research I'm doing now.

Any further suggestions will be more than appreciated
