Hello and thank you upfront. I bought my first 2 freshwater angels last night. I THINK, but truthfully I know nothing, the black is male and the white female. Can you guys help?

Generally, assume they will be the opposite of what you think, even if you have experience.
Lol, as long as they aren’t male/male I am happy, Although a bonded pair would be great.
They swim together, but I assume as juveniles, that is normal?

Even 2 males will get along for a while. However they work out, they have excellent shapes. They look good.

Nearly impossible to sex them that young. The platinum has some traits of a male but no guarantees.

I'd be inclined to say the white is male and the black is female. The head shape is a good indicator, the black is more triangular and the white is more squared off. This could change as the mature though, they both have pretty balanced ventral fins which is an other indicator of male vs females - males get more developed thicker fins here where they meet the body.

Too young and too small to be able to sex.

If you want a pr of angelfish, buy a group of 8-10 fish and grow them up together. Let them choose their own partners.
