Hello everyone... I have a question.. ???? .Does anyone have a good picture of a Swortails gravid spot?? My b/f says that one of our Marigold Swordies has a gravid spot and I just think that it's part of her coloring. :/ . I don't think she is that far along yet and I don't see a black spot... The spot he sees in orange... It's in the right spot but the color is wrong.... Can anybody help me settle this?? Aren't the gravid spots always black?? They are the frys eyes...Am I correct or losing my marbles... LOL :S Thanks for the help :D

well, scnce swordtails arent see through like guppies, you wont be able to see the full coloring. All females have gravid spots, even though they are not nessecirally pregnate.

It depends on the coloring of the swordtail. My marigold wag's gravid spot is never black, it's usually kind of a pinkish orange when she's pregnant. My neon swordies gravid spots are black. My red lyretails g.s. are usually just a little bit lighter than the rest of their bodys and my black swordies you can't even see a hint of a g.s., you just know they are pregnant when they turn into little blimps.

Well, the last Marigold I had had a black spot on her and that is what I am going from.... :dunno: She is getting fat as are 2 others I have in the tank... :D
I think my Pineapple male is having fun with his gals....
Thanks for your info...I guess he could be right  LOL
